Since 2019, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville College of Nursing has partnered with the WAKA Continuing Medical Education Center Training Institute in Nyeri, Kenya, to foster a global exchange of knowledge and clinical experience. This collaboration has created essential learning opportunities for nursing students at both UT Knoxville and WAKA, including cultural exchange, simulation training, and initiatives such as Helping Babies Breathe.
In January 2025, UT Knoxville College of Nursing faculty and students will return to WAKA. Previously, much of our work was funded by a generous private donor, who supported the purchase of teaching supplies and dormitory renovations. Sadly, this donor passed away earlier this year and we no longer have access to the same funding.
One of WAKA’s key requests is for ten laptops to enhance student learning through digital displays, videos, and online resources. Their resources are limited, and these tools are critical to expand their teaching.
Your Impact
Your gift today will be used to purchase these laptops, supporting the educational growth of WAKA nursing students. By helping WAKA access these digital learning tools, your support will also strengthen the long-standing relationship between our institutions and will have a lasting impact.
